There weren’t many people my dad purposely made me watch growing up.  One of those comedians my father always pushed on me was Robin Williams.  And over the years there came a point where he had to stop pushing and my love for Mr. Williams took over.  There have been a lot of jokes made at his expense in the past couple of decades, but there’s one thing that will always be true.  Robin Williams is one of the most talented comedians the world will ever know.  And he has always had a way of putting a smile on my face even when I’m sad.  Today is no different.  So today I stand on a nearby chair and honor our fallen captain.

RIP Robin Williams:  July 21, 1951 - August 11, 2014

"Everybody wants blockbusters. I like to see a few pictures now and then that have to do with people and have relationships, and that’s what I want to do films about. I don’t want to see these sci-fi movies, and I don’t want to do one of those. I don’t understand it." ~ James Garner

To me James Garner has always been one of those few celebrities you could tell was just a genuine man.  There aren’t many people like that in the world anymore.  While I can’t believe he’s no longer with us, he will remain with us for generations to come and will sorely be missed by all his fans.  Rest well Maverick, for as your pappy always said, “A coward dies a thousand deaths, a hero dies but one.” A thousand to one is pretty good odds. And I think it’s safe to say a thousand deaths was never in your cards.

RIP James Garner.  April 7, 1928 - July 19, 2014
